#4 Herons face Thoroughbreds Saturday

The fourth-ranked William Smith College lacrosse team heads east this Saturday, April 1, as they travel to Saratoga Springs, New York, to take on Skidmore College in a Liberty League contest. The opening draw is scheduled for noon at Skidmore's Wachenheim Field.
 
The Herons are 8-0 overall with a 2-0 mark in Liberty League play. It is the Herons best start since 2002, This past Wednesday, William Smith came from behind to defeat No. 24 St. John Fisher 10-9. Sophomore Katherine Murray led the Herons with four points on two goals and two assists. Sophomore goalkeeper Maura Smeader had 5 saves in the victory. 
 
The Thoroughbreds are 6-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play. This past Wednesday, Skidmore fell short against Vassar College, with a final score of 13-10.

  • William Smith is led by Maddie Montgomery's 25 goals and 34 points.
  • Junior Allie McGinty leads the Herons with 12 assists and is second on the team with 23 points.

  • Saturday will be the 29th meeting between the Herons and the Thoroughbreds.
