ITHACA, N.Y.—The Hobart College rowing team opened the spring portion of its schedule at the Cayuga Duels hosted by Ithaca College today.
The Statesmen competed against the Bombers, Cornell University and Williams College. Hobart's top two boats and its varsity four defeated Ithaca. The third varsity eight earned a victory over the Ephs. The Big Red crossed the line in first place four times. Racing took place on the 2,000-meter Cayuga Inlet course.
VARSITY EIGHT
- Hobart's varsity eight was on the water first at 11:28 a.m. against the hosts. In a tight race, they finished first, defeating the bombers by three seconds. The Statesmen crossed the line with a time of 5:59.0. With the win, the Statesmen ensured the Statesmen Cup stayed in Geneva for another year. The Statesmen cup is awarded to the winner of the annual varsity eight race between Hobart and Ithaca.
- In the afternoon, Hobart took on the Cornell lightweight boat. The Big Red posted a 16-second victory.
- Reed Bluestein, Bode Lonergan, Charles Watroba, Mason Fairfield, Colin Mester, Tobias Shaffer, Ryan Behar, Aidan Vanek and Ryan Mulflur powered Hobart's top boat.
SECOND VARSITY EIGHT
THIRD VARSITY EIGHT
- The Statesmen's third varsity eight of Isabel Goldblatt-Hamilton, Jayden Dasher, Álvaro Paulin, Magnus von Krusenstiern, Kevin Frost, Jake Hodge, Jake Shue, Ian Selover and David Garvey defeated Williams/ Colleges fourth varsity eight by nearly 30 seconds, posting a time of 6:15.2.
- In the afternoon, Hobart's third varsity eight of Leah Henning, Dasher, Paulin, von Krusenstiern, Frost, Hodge, Shue, Selover and Garvey dropped a tight race with Williams College. They traversed the course with a time of 6:16.7.
VARSITY FOUR
- In the morning, Henning, Eric Koon, Bryce Miltenberger, Michael Burns, Zachary Chamish were defeated by Cornell.
- In the afternoon, Goldblatt-Hamilton, Koon, Chamish, Calix Boldt, Burns, crossed the line second behind Cornell's boat and ahead of Ithaca's. The Statesmen stopped the clock with a time of 7:15.5.

Hobart will be back in action next weekend, April 9, when it heads to Fairfax, Virginia for the Occoquan Invitational.
