GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart College baseball team will host Keuka College at McDonough Park at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 19. The Statesmen have won three of their past four games, including an 11-6 win at Wells College last night.
The game will be broadcast live on WHWS-FM (105.7). It will be webcast on HWS All-Access with live stats available on HWSAthletics.com.
REMATCH
- Hobart visited Keuka on April 11 with the Statesmen notching a 15-2 win in seven innings.
- Hobart graduate student Michael Whiteherse went 6-for-6 at the plate, stole five bases, scored three times and drove in two runs.
- First-year Will Jones added three hits, four RBIs, two runs scored and a stolen base.
ABOUT THE STATESMEN (7-15)
- Whiteherse leads the nation in stolen bases per game, averaging 1.53. He's tied for third in the nation in total stolen bases with 30, despite playing 10 or 12 games fewer than the top two.
- Junior Ty Gallagher leads Hobart in batting average (.397), slugging (.662), OPS (1.195), hits (27), walks (18), doubles (7) and home runs (3).
- First-year pitcher Max Friedlander is third on the team in innings pitched (21.2), but leads the team with 22 strikeouts. Sophomore Griffin Snyder, who was the winner last night against the Express, is second with 21 strikeouts.
WOLVES TO WATCH (5-16)
- Keuka is looking to bounce back from a doubleheader sweep at Houghton on Sunday. The Wolves have lost six of their last seven.
- Junior RJ Murphy is batting a team-leading .386 this season with six doubles and three triples.
- Murphy and senior Josh Tryon share the team lead with 12 RBIs apiece.
- On the hill, sophomore Anthony Laurinitis has struck out a team-high 40 batters in a team-high 27 innings.
