Statesmen to host Spiders in key A10 clash

Hobart will honor seniors before the game, Hall of Fame Class at halftime

GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart College lacrosse team will host the University of Richmond at noon Saturday, April 22 in a critical Atlantic 10 Conference showdown on Boswell Field at Urick Stadium. Prior to the start of the game, the Statesmen will honor the team's 20 seniors and then at halftime, recognize the Hobart Hall of Fame Class of 2023.
 
A live webcast of the game will be available through HWS All-Access with Live Stats accessible on HWSAthletics.com. The game will also be broadcast live on WEOS-FM (89.5/90.3).
 
THE ROAD TO RICHMOND
  • The inaugural A10 Men's Lacrosse Championship Tournament will be hosted by Richmond May 4 and May 6. The top four teams in the six-team league will qualify for the title chase.
  • Hobart is 1-2 in A10 play, tied for fourth with High Point. The Panthers hold the tie-break over the Statesmen by virtue of a 14-13 win on April 8.
  • The Spiders are 2-1 in the A10, a game ahead of the Statesmen and a game behind league-leader Saint Joseph's (3-0). UR's conference loss was a 14-12 decision at SJU.
 
SENIOR DAY
  • With 20 players being recognized, Hobart's Senior Day ceremony is scheduled to begin at 10:40 a.m.
  • Since the team's graduate students first arrived on campus for the 2019 season, they have helped the Statesmen to a 33-21 record, qualifying for the NEC Tournament three times and advancing to the championship game in 2019 and 2022.
 
HALL OF FAME
  • The Hobart Hall of Fame Class of 2023 will be honored on the field at halftime. The distinguished group includes Tyre Coleman '15 (football), Harold Draffen '75 (lacrosse), Keith Longo '09 (hockey), Ali Marpet '15 (football), Kevin Martin '81 (lacrosse), Shawn Mizro '07 (football), Scott Petosa '80 (lacrosse), Rob Pisanelli '00 (basketball), Head Hockey Coach Mark Taylor, and Jeffrey Thon '77 (football/baseball).
 
PLAYERS TO WATCH
  • Senior attackman Troy Barthelme is the A10's top goal scorer since conference play began. He recorded a career-high five goals in the win over St. Bonaventure and notched hat tricks in the one-goal setbacks at High Point and Saint Joseph's.
  • Sophomore attackman Will Delano is near the top of the league in conference-only assists. He has six over the past three games, including three against the Bonnies.
  • Sophomore attackmen Alex Rosa and Sam Ward are first and tied for second, respectively, in the A10 in extra-man goals. They've combined for 13 of the team's 19 man-up tallies this season.
  • UR defenseman Jake Saunders is fourth in the nation in caused turnovers per game. He boasts a league-leading 28 CTO through 11 games.
  • Attackman Dalton Young leads the Spiders' offense with 47 points on 17 goals and a league-leading 30 assists.
