WORCESTER, Mass.—The Hobart College rowing team's third varsity eight won a bronze medal at the National Invitational Rowing Championships on Lake Quinsigamond this afternoon. In total, the Statesmen competed in three grand finals and one petite final today.
Hobart finished the regatta with four top 10 finishes, placing fifth in the second varsity eight, sixth in the fourth varsity eight and eighth in the varsity eight. In the Men's Point Trophy, Hobart finished seventh with 103.00 points.
THIRD VARSITY EIGHT
- Leah Henning, Álvaro Paulin, Jayden Dasher, Kevin Frost, Magnus von Krusenstiern, Tibor Teleki, Jake Hodge, Bryce Miltenberger and Ian Selover represented the Statesmen in the 3V8.
- Hobart, which was ranked 18th in the IRCA/IRA 3rd Varsity 8+ poll, opened the regatta competing against Tufts, Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Bates in its morning heat. The Statesmen powered down the 2,000-meter Lake Quinsigamond course, stopping the clock at 6:28.494, five seconds ahead of the jumbos. William won the other heat.
- This afternoon, the Statesmen took on Williams, Michigan, Wesleyan, Tufts and WPI in the grand final. Hobart crossed the line third with a time of 6:06.090 the Ephs and Wolverines were first and second, respectively.
SECOND VARSITY EIGHT
- Hobart's 2V8, which is receiving votes in the 2V8 poll, was powered by Corin Wiggins, Colin Mester, Ben Brodney, Conrad Palmer, Ryan Behar, Trevor Beatley, Adam Pomerantz, Brogan Dietsche and Mason Fairfield.
- In the morning, the Statesmen competed in Heat 2 with Trinity, Michigan, WPI, Marist and Ithaca. Hobart finished third, crossing the line with a time of 6:25.190 to secure a spot in the grand final. The Bantams and Wolverines also advanced, finishing first and second.
- In the final, the Statesmen traversed the 2,000-meter Lake Quinsigamond course in a time of 6:03.825. Williams, Bates and Trinity won the medals in the race. Hobart was just two seconds off the podium.
VARSITY EIGHT
- Reed Bluestein, Ryan Mulflur, Bode Lonergan, Owen O'Connor, Sam Peeler, Charles Watroba, Tobias Shaffer, Sean Madden and Aidan Vanek competed in the 1V8.
- Hobart progressed to the petite final, finishing third in its morning heat. The Statesmen stopped the clock at 6:12.960.
- This afternoon, Bluestein, Mulflur, Lonergan, O'Connor, Peeler, Watroba, Shaffer, Madden and Vanek competed against Bates, WPI, Marist, Ithaca and Hamilton. Hobart crossed the line second with a time of 5:58.696, two seconds behind the Bobcats.
FOURTH VARSITY EIGHT
- In a finals only race, Isabel Goldblatt-Hamilton, Eric Koon, Zachary Chamish, Jake Shue, Michael Burns, Robert Roseboro, Michael Gilbert, Calix Boldt and David Garvey finished sixth, posting a time of 6:26.695.
- The Statesmen 4V8 competed against two boats from Michigan, Tufts, Williams and Wesleyan.
