Following a week off, the Hobart College football team is back in action, welcoming Keystone College to Urick Stadium Saturday, Sept. 23. The opening kickoff on Boswell Field is set for 6 p.m.
The game will be webcast on HWS All-Access with live stats available on HWSathletics.com. It will also be broadcast live on WEOS-FM (89.5/90.3 in Geneva).
SPIRIT GAME
- This matchup will be Hobart Football's Spirit game, sponsored by HWS Student Engagement, which includes giveaways and TheoPetros, a Greek food truck. Free for students/faculty/staff with a valid OneCard, TheoPatros will be serving from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. or until they run out.
- All fans are encouraged to wear purple in support of the Purple Out. On the field, Hobart will wear its purple jerseys.
FOR THE RECORD
- The Statesmen enter the game 2-0 while Keystone comes in with a 1-2 record.
- Hobart has dominant wins over Alfred and Morrisville State, outscoring their first two opponents by a combined 58-19.
- Keystone's win came in a Week 1 matchup with Gallaudet, topping the Bison 26-7. The Giants then dropped games to Hartwick and St. John Fisher.
SERIES SNAPSHOT
- This will be the third matchup between the Statesmen and Giants. Hobart has won both previous matchups, scoring a combined 123 points. It's the most points the Statesmen have scored in consecutive games against an opponent. The previous record was 112 when Hobart hung 56 points on Shenandoah in back-to-back years (2017-18).
- Last year's matchup featured a dominating road win for Hobart, 65-6. The Statesmen produced season-highs for touchdowns (9) and rushing touchdowns (7).
HOBART OFFENSE
- The story of the Statesmen offense so far this season has been the run game. Hobart is 10th in the nation in rushing offense, averaging 261.5 yards per game.
- The Statesmen have controlled the pace of play so far this season, ranking 14th in the country in time of possession (35:30).
- Senior running backs Tim Denham Jr. and Rayshawn Boswell have combined for 396 yards and six touchdowns through two games.
- The young offensive line has performed well. The front five have only allowed six tackles behind the line of scrimmage (3.0/g, 10th in the nation) and just a solitary sack.
HOBART DEFENSE
- The Statesmen defense has been the ultimate compliment to their ground attack this season, wreaking havoc on opposing offenses.
- Linebacker Peterson Monexant leads the charge with a team-high 16 tackles.
- Hobart has declared a no-fly zone over Boswell Field. The Statesmen are ninth in the nation in defensive passing efficiency (76.99 PER) and 10th in interceptions (6).
- Junior linebacker Jaimen Bliss and senior defensive back Joe McCoy lead the team with two interceptions apiece.
- Hobart has also forced three fumbles and recovered two, including one returned for a touchdown by senior cornerback Abdoulaye Diallo against Alfred.
ABOUT KEYSTONE
- First-year quarterback Demiko Suggs has led the Giants offense, passing for 341 yards and three touchdowns, completing 61.9% of his passes.
- Junior running back Mujaheed Muhammad has rushed for 241 yards and three touchdowns.
- Senior defensive back CJ Riccobono leads the Giants' defense in tackles with 21.
