LEWISTON, MAINE—The 17th-ranked William Smith College squash team swept #19 Bates College 9-0 at the Bates Squash Center this afternoon.
William Smith won five of the nine matches in 3-0 sweeps. Two of the matches went to five games and two went to four games.

- Senior Laila Selim had the fifth and deciding point in the match, rallying to defeat Navya Gupta, 9-11, 11-4, 11-9, 11-9, in the No. 2 spot. It was Selim's second straight victory.
- Sophomore Nathalie Sim improved to 3-2 in the No. 3 spot with a victory over Sumairaa Suleman. Sim swept her Bobcat opponent, 11-1, 11-6, 11-8.
- In the No. 4 spot, junior Anna O'Connor won her second straight match, beating Tia Billimoria, 11-8, 11-8, 12-10. O'Connor is 2-0 on the season.
- Senior Diya Moolani swept Claudia El-Masry, 11-5, 11-6, 11-6, in the No. 6 spot for her third win of the year.
- In the No. 8 spot, Shante Frank notched an 11-4, 11-6, 11-7 victory over Angelina Amastal.
- Senior Lark Ervasti won 3-0 in the No. 8 spot, besting Dainalee Velez, 11-6, 11-6, 11-7.
- Senior Jada Smith-Padmore beat Grace Flaherty, 11-3, 11-8, 9-11, 13-11, in the No. 5 spot. She is 2-0 at No. 5 this season.
- Sophomore Jessica Finnerty rallied for a 3-2 win at No. 9. She beat Hollis Hale, 11-7, 6-11, 9-11, 11-7, 11-8. It was Finnerty's third win of the year and second at No. 9.
- In the closest match of the day. Rafaela Albuja Sanchez, edged Andreaa Martagon, 6-11, 11-9, 11-9, 8-11, 12-10. Albuja Sanchez is 3-2 in 2023-24, playing all five matches at No. 1

William Smith will be back in action on Sunday, Jan. 14, when it welcomes Georgetown University to Geneva, New York. The Herons' home opener is scheduled to start at 11 a.m.
