PITTSFORD, NY –The Hobart golf team concluded its fall season at the Nazareth Fall Invitational on Monday. All five Statesmen finished top-15 to clinch second place, finishing six strokes behind host Nazareth with a score of +43 as a team.
Sophomore Gavin Poyer and junior Jake Romney led Hobart at Locust Hill Country Club on Monday; finishing tied for third at +9. Both Poyer and Romney shot a 39 on the front nine and a 42 on the back nine to card an 81 on the day, landing them in a four-way tie for third.
Junior Charlie Craig rounded out the top-three finishers for the Statesmen. Craig shot a +12 through one round to land in tie for ninth place with SUNY Canton's Kahontiio Lazore. Senior Matthew McCann came in 11th place after shooting a +13 and was followed by first-year Robby Kurzer in 15th with a +16 on the day.
Nazareth's "A" team was crowned the team champion after producing four top-10 finishers and coming in at +37 as a team. Russel Sage's Ryan Arp was the individual medalist after carding a +7 through 18 holes. He finished one stroke ahead of runner-up Vincent Falgiatano from Nazareth.
