3/8/2024 11:29:00 AM

The Statesman lacrosse team will travel to UAlbany this Saturday, March 9, to take on the Great Danes. The game is set to start at 1 p.m. on Ford Field at Casey Stadium.

The game will be broadcast live on WEOS-FM (89.5/90.3). The game will be webcast on ESPN+ with live stats on ualbanysports.com.

ABOUT THE STATESMEN
  • Hobart (2-3) is coming off a 15-10 win over Robert Morris on March 2.
  • The Statesmen have excelled in faceoff percentage and man-down defense this season. Hobart is third in the nation at the X, winning 65% of the time. The Statesmen are 12th in the nation when short-handed, killing off 76.2% of their opponents' extra-man opportunities. The Colonials were 0-for-6 against Hobart's defense last Saturday.
  • Graduate student Adam Shea is 10th in the nation in faceoff percentage (.630). First-year Mike Valent leads the A10 in faceoff percentage (.686), but is short of the NCAA minimum percent of team faceoffs to rank nationally.
  • First-year attackman Chris Patterson was named the A10 Rookie of the Week after recording nine points last week. His seven-point game against RMU is the most by a Hobart first-year since 2019.
  • Junior attackman Will Delano leads the A10 and is third in the nation in extra-man goals with four.
  • Senior attackman Anthony Dattellas is on the verge of a career milestone. He enters Saturday's game with 99 points. In Hobart's Division I era, 17 Statesmen have recorded 100 career points. Dattellas is 17th in both career goals (64) and career assists (35).

ABOUT THE GREAT DANES
  • Still searching for its first win, UAlbany (0-4) has been agonizingly close this season, dropping one-goal decisions to Colgate (11-10), Drexel (13-12 in OT) and UMass (12-11).
  • The Great Danes lead the nation in man-down defense. They have killed off all five of their opposition's extra-man opportunities.
  • Graduate student long-stick midfielder Jake Piseno leads the nation in caused turnovers per game (3.75). He's recorded at least two in every game this year.
  • Sophomore attackman Silas Richmond leads UAlbany in goals (9), assists (4), and points (13). He netted four goals against the Raiders, the most by a Great Dane this season.
  • Senior Regan Endres has taken all but one faceoff for UAlbany this year. He has a .564 winning percentage and is 10th in the nation in ground balls per game (7.75).

COMMON GROUND
  • The Statesmen and the Great Danes both opened their seasons at home against Colgate. The Raiders gave both teams losses, topping Hobart 16-11 and UAlbany 11-10 a week later.

FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING
  • This will be the first meeting between the Hobart and UAlbany lacrosse programs.
