#6 Herons visit Rochester for conference clash

The sixth-ranked William Smith lacrosse team will be back in action on Saturday, April 20, when it hits the road for a Liberty League game at Rochester. The opening draw is scheduled for noon at Fauver Stadium.
 
The Herons are 12-3 overall with a 7-1 mark in Liberty League play. William Smith is coming off a 21-3 win over Rochester Institute of Technology. The Herons had nine different players score a goal in the victory. The Herons are second in the conference standings.
 
Rochester is 8-6 overall with a 5-3 mark in the Liberty League play. The Yellowjackets have lost back-to-back games, including a non-conference contest to Hamilton on Wednesday. Rochester is fourth in the conference standings.

ABOUT THE HERONS
  • William Smith is led by Maddie Montgomery's 50 goals, 61 points and 21 caused turnovers. She is tied for the Liberty League lead in goals and points. Montgomery also has 46 draw controls and 21 ground balls.
  • Sophomore Natalie Daniels leads the Herons with 60 draw controls. She is second with 43 goals and 50 points.
  • Senior Allie McGinty leads the Herons and is second in the Liberty League with 33 assists.
  • Junior Maura Smeader has played the majority of the minutes in goal for the Herons. She is 12-2 overall with a 7.48 GAA and a .512 save percentage. She leads the league in GAA and is second in save percentage.

  • Entering the weekend, William Smith is third in the nation in clearing percentage (.911), fourth in turnovers per game (12.4), sixth in winning percentage  (.867), 10th in scoring defense and 12th in save percentage (.514).
  • Smeader is eighth in the nation in GAA and ninth in save percentage.  Daniels is 15th in the nation in free position percentage (.706).
 
ABOUT THE YELLOWJACKETS
  • Rochester is led by Alyssa Gorny, who has 39 goals and 54 points.
  • Gracie Giannettino is right behind her with 53 points, including a team-leading 25 assists. Emily Schillinger (26g, 24a) also has 50 points this season.
  • Grace Crochiere leads Rochester with 61 draw controls, 21 caused turnovers and 48 ground balls.
  • Ava Saffren has played the majority of the minutes in goal. She is 8-6 with an 11.93 GAA and a .370 save percentage.

  • Saturday's game will be the 49th meeting between William Smith and Rochester.
  • The Herons lead the all-time series 45-3, including a 19-2 record in Rochester.
