#2 Herons face #18 Ithaca in key league game

The second-ranked William Smith lacrosse team will continue its five-game road trip tomorrow, April 10, when it heads to Ithaca, New York, to take on 18th-ranked Ithaca. Opening draw is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Bombers' Higgins Stadium.
 
William Smith enters the week with an 11-0 overall record and a 5-0 mark in conference play. Ithaca is 9-1 overall with a 5-0 mark in conference play. They are tied for first in the Liberty League standings. The Herons and Bombers both swept their way through the North Country last weekend beating St. Lawrence and Clarkson.

ABOUT THE HERONS
  • ​​Senior Maddie Montgomery leads the team with 43 goals and 51 points. She became just the second Heron in program history to record 300 points with four goals against the Golden Knights. Montgomery also leads the team with 15 caused turnovers.
  • Senior Allie McGinty and sophomore Natalie Daniels are second on the team with 40 points each. McGinty has a team-high 27 assists Daniels has 35 goals.

  • Junior Maura Smeader has played every minute in goal. She is 11-0 with a 6.62 GAA and a .544 save percentage. She is fourth in the nation in save percentage and seventh in GAA. Smeader leads William Smith with 27 ground balls.

  • Ithaca is led by Maizy Veitch, who has 43 points on 24 goals and 19 assists.
  • Sydney Phillips is right behind her with 35 points, including a team-leading 29 goals.
  • Caroline Wise leads the Bombers with 80 draw controls, 13 caused turnovers and 19 ground balls. She also has 33 points on 15 goals and 18 assists. Wise is seventh in the nation in draw controls per game (10.00).
  • Lexi Held has played every minute in goal. She is 9-1 with an 11.06 GAA and a .466 save percentage.
