Poyer leads Hobart to 3rd place at Fisher Invitational

FAIRPORT, N.Y. – The Hobart golf team competed at the Fisher Collegiate Invitational this weekend at Eagle Vale Golf Course. The Statesmen finished in third at the two-day event after finishing +51 as a team.

Sophomore Gavin Poyer led Hobart this weekend, finishing tied for seventh at 10 over par. He shot a 78 in the first day of action and a 76 in the second round on Monday. Classmate Casey Graham finished closely behind at +12 on the weekend, finishing in a three-way tie for ninth.

Junior Charlie Craig rounded out the top three Statesman finishers at the Fisher Invitational. He carded a 76 on day one and an 82 on day two to finish +14 through two rounds. Classmate Jake Romney came in one stroke behind Craig (+15) to land in 16th place.

First-year Robby Kurzer competed as an individual at the Fisher Invitational and finished +21 through two rounds. He finished tied for 20th place for his best collegiate finish.

The host Cardinals captured the team title after producing two of the top three finishers at the Invitational. St. John Fisher finished +22 on the weekend, 21 strokes ahead of runners-up Nazareth. Fisher's RJ Juodaitis was the individual medalist after finishing two under par through 36 holes. He was the only player to finish under par.

UP NEXT: 

Hobart will be back in action Saturday, Sept. 28 - Sunday, Sept. 29, when it travels to Oswego, New York, to compete in the Oswego State Fall Invitational. The two-day event will take place at the Oswego Country Club and is set to begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday and 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.
