GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart basketball team will welcome former Statesmen back to campus this weekend, while hosting a pair of key Liberty League games. On Friday, Jan. 24, Hobart will take on St. Lawrence at 7:30 p.m. in Bristol Gym. The following day at 4 p.m., the Statesmen will take on Clarkson.
On Friday night,
Momma's Got You food truck will be serving fans outside Bristol Gym. Dinners will be available for purchase from approximately 5 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. HWS students, faculty and staff can choose one complimentary appetizer, chicken tender basket, hot dog basket, or hamburger/cheeseburger basket by presenting a valid HWS OneCard.
Both the St. Lawrence game and Clarkson game will be broadcast on WHWS-FM (105.7). They will also be streamed live on HWS All-Access.
FIRST THINGS FIRST
- Friday's game will be the first meeting between Hobart and St. Lawrence since the 2024 Liberty League Championship game in Bristol Gym. The Statesmen scored a 63-55 victory on their home floor to secure the program's fourth conference title and an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
- The home team has won each of the past six meetings in the series between the Statesmen and the Saints.
FOR THE RECORD
- Hobart has won six of its last seven games to improve to 11-4 overall. The Statesmen are 5-3 in conference play and are tied for third place in the standings.
- St. Lawrence aims to halt a two-game slide that dropped the Saints to 9-5 overall, 3-5 in the league. SLU is tied for seventh in the standings, one game out of a playoff position.
STRENGTH vs. STRENGTH
- Hobart leads the Liberty League in 3-point field goal percentage at .364.
- Statesmen sophomore Alex Moesch leads the league in 3-point accuracy, shooting at a .413 clip.
- The Statesmen will be tested by the Saints' league leading perimeter defense. Opponents are shooting just .279 from beyond the arc against St. Lawrence.
BOXING OUT
- Hobart enters the weekend first in the Liberty League in rebounding margin at +5.0 per game.
- Senior Carter Meshanic paces the Statesmen on the glass. He's fourth in the league, averaging 8.2 per game.
- By contrast, St. Lawrence is last at -2.6.
SATURDAY SHOWDOWN
- Saturday's game will be the 150th meeting between Hobart and Clarkson.
- The Statesmen lead the series, which dates back to 1917, 88-61.
- Hobart swept the home-and-home series last season and has won nine of the last 10.
SCOUTING REPORT
- Clarkson begins the weekend with an 8-7 overall record and a 4-4 mark against the League.
- The Golden Knights are tied for fifth in the standings, a game behind the Statesmen and a game ahead of the Saints.
- Clarkson will attempt to put the brakes on a three-game skid at RIT (6-8, 2-5) Friday night before heading to Geneva.
