ROCHESTER, N.Y.—The Hobart rowing team opened the fall portion of its 2025-26 season at the Head of the Genesee Regatta this morning. Out of the five events that the Statesmen competed in, they won gold medals in four and silver medals in all five.
The Statesmen competed against 10 teams and the clock on the 5,000-meter racecourse at the Genesee Waterways Center. Conditions remained steady with a light tailwind and rainy conditions.
COLLEGIATE 4+
- Hobart had two entries in the Men's Collegiate four event. The Statesmen started the day winning gold and silver medals in the event.
- Hobart's first four was driven by Sam Hyman, Lex Lauer, James Feeley IV, Chase Sneddon, and Alan Marusic.
- They established a strong base pace and increased speed throughout the race. The men powered down the course, passing several boats. They began with an average of 32 strokes per minute and ended with 36 strokes per minute in the last 400 meters.
- They stopped the clock at 17:21.100, beating the field by 18 seconds.
- Hobart's second boat was composed of Ellie Dial, Panagiotis Giannakopoulos, Henry McComb, Colin Mester, and Charles Watroba.
- They started at a solid pace for the first 2,500 meters. Although having a slower second half, they overtook two crews along the way.
- The boat stopped the clock with a time of 17:39.460
MENS NOVICE EIGHT
- The Statemen novice eight was powered by Duncan Wolski, Estel Justus, Braden Hendrickson, Fletcher Grantham, Clement Newbold, Cameron Nixon, Indiana Eiger, Cooper Sernick, and Finn Nestor.
- In their first collegiate appearance, the men were authoritative from start to finish, catching up to the other two boats in their event and maintaining a rate of 33 strokes per minute.
- The novice eight finished with a time of 16:34.207, winning their first collegiate medal.

COLLEGIATE EIGHTS
- Hobart had four boats compete in the collegiate eight event. All four boats finished in the top five.
- The varsity eight was driven by Dial, Giannakopoulus, Agans, Mester, Richardson, Peeler, McComb, Trevor Beatley and Lonergan.
- They finished first overall with a time of 16:17.142, beating the second-place boat by two seconds.
- Hobart's 2V8 consisted of Hyman, O'Connor, Watroba, Capitanucci, Paulin, Faulkner, Yokanovich, Cayden Hill, and Tibor Teleki. They finished with a time of 16:20.022, winning a silver medal.
- Hobart's third eight was conducted by Isabel Goldblatt-Hamilton, Lex Lauer, Feeley, Sneddon, Marusic, Jayden Dasher, Gilder, Burvis, and May. Rowing at a 32-stroke rate, they stopped the clock at 16:34.510.
- The fourth eight was powered by Wolski, Justus, Hendrickson, Grantham, Newbold, Henry Terrell, Elliot Morris, Thomas Hoffmann, and Liam O'Connor. They finished fifth.
