William Smith's varsity eight was named the Liberty League Women's Rowing Boat of the Week by the conference office this afternoon.
 
The Herons' V8, which was powered by Michaela Greco, Aubrianna Ryan, Kate Abdalla, Linnea Darius, Cheyenne Muldowney, Grace Jung, Raya Schwartz, Olivia Helms and Meghan Bartholomay opened their season winning a gold medal at the Head of the Gensee Regatta on Saturday. They traversed the 5-kilometer Genesee Waterways Center racecourse with a time of 18:06.256. They beat the second place team, William Smith's 2V8, by 27 seconds.
 
William Smith will be back in action on Sunday, Oct. 19, when it heads to Boston for the Head of the Charles Regatta. The Herons will compete in the Women's Collegiate Four event.
