10/2/2025 10:15:00 AM

The Hobart tennis team will travel to Saratoga Springs, New York for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III Men's Northeast Regional Championships this weekend, Oct. 3-5, at the McCaffery-Wagman Tennis and Wellness Center.

Players from across the region will compete at Skidmore College this weekend. The singles bracket will feature 111 players, while the doubles bracket has 50 teams. The singles and doubles champions, as well as the runners-up, will compete in the ITA Cup, the small college national championships, in Rome, Georgia, Oct. 16-19.

Seniors Nick Fischer and Jacob Linares will be joined by junior Achilleas Kousaridis, as well as first-year Michael Georgelis competing in the Singles A Draw. Hobart will enter singles play with Linares taking on Siddharth Srinivasan from RPI in the round of 64, while Georgelis takes on Gustave Viennet from RPI. Kousaridis will face off against Skidmore's Mustafa Ege Topbas, while Fischer takes on Nathan Chan from TCNJ.

The Statesmen will continue the action in the doubles bracket, as the pairing of Fischer and Linares take on Jacob Feir and Matan Kamhi from Yeshiva. Georgelis and first-year Tejus Ranadive will face off against St. Lawrence's Jake and Joshua David in the opening round. In the Doubles B Draw, seniors Jose Martines Barelles and Aidan Staunton square off against Srinivasan and Felix Puyplat from RPI in the round of 16.

At this year's Saint Lawrence University Classic, Fischer and Linares both advanced to the A Flight Singles title match, with Fischer ultimately taking home the victory. Georgelis advanced to the semifinal match in the Singles "B" Flight. The Statesmen look to keep the momentum as they head into ITA Northeast Regionals this weekend.
