Hobart seniors Nick Fischer and Jacob Linares turned their winning weekend at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northeast Regional Championships into the Liberty League Men's Doubles Team of the Week recognition today.
 
Fischer and Linares went 5-0 on their way to claiming the Northeast Regional Doubles title in Saratoga Springs, New York. After cruising to an 8-0 win over Yeshiva's Jacob Feit and Matan Kamhi to open the tournament, Fischer and Linares knocked off three straight Liberty League opponents to secure a spot in the championship match. They beat RIT's Alec Turcotte and Evan Ly 8-1 to close out Friday's action. Saturday Fischer and Linares had their toughest test of the weekend, edging Skidmore's Yuval Goodman and Harrison Gradin in a tiebreaker, 8-7 (7-3).  In the semifinals, they defeated Vassar's Nolan Kubiak and Fernando Bauermeister, 6-4, 7-5. In Sunday's championship match they won 6-3, 6-3, over Hamilton's Villem Aadamsoo and Lleyton Mendieta.
 
Fischer and Linares are the first Statesmen to win the Northeast Regional Championship since Alan Dubrovsky '20 and Walker Anderson '21 did it in 2018. With the win, Fischer and Linares advance to the ITA Cup at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Georgia. The ITA Cup will be contested Oct. 16-19.
