Two members of the William Smith field hockey team were named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-Region teams, the association announced today. Graduate student
Rebecca Mantione was selected to the Region III first team, while sophomore
Caroline Kogut landed on the second team.

Mantione earned her first career all-region first team selection after a standout season that saw her earn All-Liberty League first team honors. She started all 21 games for the Herons and led the team with a career-high 25 points on nine goals and seven assists. Mantione's season was highlighted by a four-game scoring streak where she tallied 13 points resulting in a NFHCA Division III Offensive Performer of the Week and Liberty League Offensive Performer of the Week award. Mantione recorded her second career hat trick, powering the Herons to a 5-4 overtime win over Gettysburg. She also added a goal against Ursinus, Lebanon Valley and Nazareth.

The midfielder from Baldwinsville, New York, concluded her collegiate career with 83 points on 29 goals, including six game winners, and 25 assists in 87 games. Mantione earned two NFHCA All-Region honors and was selected to the All-Liberty League teams three times, including two first team selections. She was also a four-time NFHCA Scholar of Distinction as well as a four-time NFHCA National Academic Squad selection. Mantione was named to the NFHCA Preseason watch list in her final two seasons and was selected to the NFHCA senior team in 2024.

Kogut earned her second straight all-region selection after a solid sophomore season that saw her start all 21 games for the Herons. She tallied 15 points on five goals, including one game winner, and five assists. Kogut also recorded two defensive saves for William Smith. Her season was highlighted by a strong start, scoring four goals and adding one assist in the opening three games of the season. Kogut scored two goals as William Smith rallied to defeat St. John Fisher 3-2 in the season opener. She added assists in back-to-back wins over RPI and Vassar to help William Smith clinch a spot in the Liberty League playoffs for the fourth straight season.

The defender from Glenville, New York, has been a key player in her first two seasons at William Smith. Kogut has played a crucial role anchoring the back line for the Herons and has been a force on both the offensive and defensive penalty corner units. She has played in all 40 games for William Smith, tallying 42 points on 17 goals, including two game winners, and eight assists. Along with her consecutive all-region selections, Kogut has been named to the All-Liberty League first team twice. She was named the 2024 Liberty League Co-Rookie of the Year and to the 2025 NFHCA Preseason watch list. Kogut was named to the NFHCA National Academic Squad in 2024 and was named a Liberty League All-Academic in 2025.
William Smith concluded its season with a 12-9 overall record (4-3 Liberty League) and clinched the fourth seed in the conference postseason tournament. The Herons defeated fifth-seeded Rochester 1-0 in overtime in the first round before falling to top-seeded Vassar 2-1 in the semifinals.
