The William Smith field hockey team was named a 2025 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III National Academic Team.
 
This year, the NFCA recognized 78 Division III teams that achieved a team grade point average of 3.5 or above. This is the 14th consecutive season the Herons have earned this distinction.
 
This past fall, the William Smith field hockey team produced an impressive team GPA of 3.65 while going 12-9 and clinching a spot in the postseason for the fourth-straight year.
 
Earlier this week, 13 William Smith players were named to the NFHCA National Academic Squad and four of those Herons earned NFHCA Scholars of Distinction which celebrates players who earned a 3.9 GPA or higher.
