GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith squash team, which was ranked 26th in the nation in the latest College Squash Association Team Rankings, split a pair of matches this weekend at the Smith Squash Center. On Saturday, the Herons beat Chatham 6-3 in their home opener. This morning, they were defeated by No. 21 Denison 9-0.
FOR THE RECORD
- William Smith is now 1-3 overall on the year.
AGAINST THE COUGARS
- In Saturday's match against Chatham, the Herons earned all three of their points in 3-0 sweeps.
- In the No. 4 spot, Paw Law Eh earned her first collegiate point, beating Amari Spivey, 11-4, 11-2, 11-8.
- Kimberly Javier bested Sarah Secco, 11-0, 11-3, 11-2, at No. 5.
- In the sixth spot, Danielle Dezart topped Malika Cleckley, 11-2, 11-2, 11-0.
- Chatham won in the top three spots of the ladder in sweeps.
AGAINST THE BIG RED
- No. 21 Denison took eight of the nine matches in 3-0 sweeps.
- Jada Smith-Padmore had a hard-fought match in the top spot, but was edged by Charlotte Jones, 12-14, 11-7, 12-10, 11-7.
UP NEXT
William Smith will be back in action next month, January 8-15, when it heads to New England for six matches. The Herons will take on Colby, Bowdoin, Bates, Brown, Connecticut College and Wesleyan during the trip.
