Hobart to host #3 Cornell at Urick Stadium Tuesday

GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart lacrosse team will host No. 3 Cornell on Boswell Field at Urick Stadium Tuesday, Feb. 25. The 142nd meeting between the ancient rivals is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
 
The game will be webcast on HWS All-Access. It will also be broadcast live on WHWS-FM (105.7).
 
Admission is free to all spectators.

  • Hobart is ranked in the top 10 in the nation in faceoff winning percentage (4th, .667), ground balls per game (6th, 35.0) and extra-man offense (9th, .538).
  • Junior midfielder Cade Dino produced his first collegiate hat trick and added an assist in Saturday's triumph over the Bison. He was named the Under Armour Atlantic 10 Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week for his efforts, which included the game-winning goal with 2:30 remaining.
  • Sophomore faceoff specialist Mike Valent won 12-of-17 at the X and grabbed a game-high six ground balls against Bucknell. He leads the team with a .677 winning percentage and is tied for second with 11 ground balls.
  • First-year attackman Daniel Cano matched Dino's four-point effort against the Bison, recording two goals and two assists. Cano's first collegiate points came in his first career start.
 
SEEING RED
  • Cornell leads the nation in extra-man offense (.800, 4-5) and is second in assists per game (11.5) and clearing percentage (.949). The Big Red are also fourth in the country in points per game, scoring margin, scoring offense, and shot percentage.
  • Senior attackman CJ Kirst is averaging a Division I leading 5.5 goals per game.
  • Sophomore attackman Ryan Goldstein is second in the country, averaging 4.0 assists per game.
  • Senior goalie Wyatt Krust sports a 7.50 GAA and a .643 save percentage.

SERIES SNAPSHOT
  • The most contested rivalry in college lacrosse, Hobart and Cornell will face off for the 142nd time.
  • The Big Red lead the series, which began in 1898, 90-47-4. Cornell has won five in a row over Hobart, including a 23-7 victory in Ithaca last season.
  • The Statesmen are looking for their first win in the series since prevailing 16-8 in Geneva on Feb. 25, 2017.
