The Hobart hockey team was voted the No. 1 team in the nation in the latest USCHO.com poll. It is the 24th consecutive USCHO poll in which the Statesmen have been voted No. 1. The Statesmen received 17 of the 20 first place votes.
The Statesmen went 1-1-0 in New Haven, Connecticut last weekend, earning four out of a possible six points from their weekend series with Albertus Magnus. On Friday, The Falcons edged Hobart 3-2 in overtime, snapping Hobart's NCAA men's hockey record 42-game unbeaten streak. The Statesmen bounced back with a 4-2 victory over the Falcons Saturday.
Hobart's historic unbeaten streak spanned from Nov. 11, 2023 to Jan. 31, 2025, with the Statesmen posting a 41-0-1 record during the stretch. Hobart's streak lasted 447 days. Only the University of Minnesota women had a longer streak at 62 games. Included in the Statesmen's record-breaking unbeaten streak was a 31-game winning streak that lasted from Jan. 19, 2024 to last Friday. It was the fourth-longest streak in NCAA Division III history.
The Statesmen are 18-1-0 overall this season with a 13-1-0 mark in New England Hockey Conference play. Hobart is first in the New England Hockey Conference standings. The Statesmen have an 11-point lead with two games in hand on Babson.
Hobart will return to The Cooler this weekend, Feb. 7-8, when it begins a four-game homestand against the University of Southern Maine. The Huskies are 11th in the conference standings.
