Hobart senior goalie
Mavrick Goyer recently signed a professional contract with the Diables Rouges de Valenciennes in the French Division I Hockey League.
"I'm really excited for Mavrick and not surprised Valenciennes signed him quickly," Head Coach
Mark Taylor said. "I've had the luxury of two of the best goalies in the country these past four years. Unfortunately, you can only play one at a time, which can put one guy in the shadow of the other guy. Mavrick's career body of work speaks for itself, though. This is a great pickup by Valenciennes and a great opportunity for Mavrick. Well earned and deserved!"
Goyer is the fourth Statesman in the last two years to sign in France.
Austin Mourar '24, MSM '25,
Matthew Iasenza '25 and
Cooper Swift '25 all played in the league last year.
An All-SUNYAC third team selection, Goyer played in 10 games in 2025-26. He went 9-0-0 with a 0.96 GAA and six shutouts. He closed out his career allowing just one goal in his final six starts, including a five-game shutout streak that lasted 306:37. Goyer made a season-high 20 saves in a 1-0 win over Skidmore on Jan. 24. Goyer's 0.96 GAA is fourth on Hobart's single-season list and his six shutouts are tied for fifth.
A three-time national champion, Goyer played in 45 games during his career, posting a 39-1-1 overall record with a 1.02 GAA, a .945 save percentage and 21 shutouts. He will graduate as Hobart's career record holder for GAA and is second in shutouts. Goyer is third in NCAA Division III history in shutouts. His .945 save percentage is second on Hobart's career list and he is fifth in wins. Goyer put up his best numbers during his junior season when he went 12-0-1 with a 0.84 GAA, a .956 save percentage and seven shutouts. His GAA set the single-season record and his seven shutouts match the single-season record.
Goyer and his fellow senior goalie
Damon Beaver combine for the top seven single-season shutout marks in program history and the top eight GAA marks. Goyer and Beaver had 47 shutouts over the last four seasons.
