3 Statesmen earn CSC Academic All-District® honors

Three Hobart seniors were recently named to the 2024-25 Academic All-District® Division III Men's Basketball Team as selected by College Sports Communicators. Forwards Carter and Hunter Meshanic and guard Aidan Rodgers were recognized for their outstanding performance in the classroom and on the court.
 
To be eligible for Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must have completed one full calendar year at their institution, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 and participate in 90 percent of their team's games or start in at least 66 percent of their team's games.
 
Carter Meshanic is a two-time CSC Academic All-District honoree. Majoring in psychology and Spanish and Hispanic studies, he is also a three-time Liberty League All-Academic pick and a two-time Arnold Scholar-Athlete Award recipient. His academic success was recognized last season with a spot on the NABC Honors Court as well.
 
This season, Carter Meshanic averaged 9.2 points, a team-high 7.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists while starting all 26 games. He logged a pair of double-doubles, on 14 points and 10 rebounds against Penn State Behrend and 12 points and a season-high 14 boards in the Liberty League Tournament game at Union. Carter's 19 points and eight rebounds helped the Statesmen defeat Ithaca 87-80 in Bristol Gym.
 
For his career, Carter appeared in 107 games, starting 82. He scored 987 points (9.2 ppg), grabbed 603 rebounds (5.6 rpg) and dished out 172 assists (1.6 apg). His .529 career field goal percentage is 10th on Hobart's all-time list. Carter was a 2023-24 All-Liberty League second team selection.
 
Hunter Meshanic earned CSC Academic All-District recognition for the first time this season. A psychology and Spanish and Hispanic studies major, he too is a three-time Liberty League All-Academic selection. In 2024-25, he also earned the Arnold Scholar-Athlete Award and was named to the NABC Honors Court.
 
Hunter played in all 26 games this year, starting 24. He averaged 6.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals. He posted a double-double on 10 points and 10 rebounds in the win at RIT and produced a career-high 15 points at Union.
 
A starter in 28 of the 107 career games he played for Hobart, Hunter scored 486 points (4.5 ppg), collected 329 rebounds (3.1 rpg) and recorded 103 assists (0.97 apg).
 
An economics and sociology major, Rodgers is a two-time CSC Academic All-District selection, a three-time Liberty League All-Academic honoree and a 2023-24 NABC Honors Court pick.
 
A starter in 25 of the 26 games he played this season, Rodgers produced 9.1 points, 3.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.5 steals per game. He led the Statesmen in both assists and steals. Rodgers logged 10 points, eight rebounds and five assists in a win over Union and scored a career-high 26 points against Vassar the following day.
 
A starter in 105 of the 107 games he played for the Statesmen, Rodgers produced 1,072 points (10.0 ppg), 335 rebounds (3.1 rpg), 326 assists (3.0 apg) and 120 steals (1.1 spg). He finished 25th on Hobart's career points list. Rodgers made 129 3-pointers, ninth on the all-time list, shooting .308 from beyond the arc. He finished 14th in career free throws made (247) and 22nd in career free throw percentage (.774). Rodgers was the 2021-22 Liberty League Rookie of the Year and a 2023-24 All-Liberty League honorable mention pick.
 
The trio led Hobart to a 67-40 record over the past four seasons, including a 22-6 record last season that saw the Statesmen capture the Liberty League regular season and tournament championship. This year, Hobart went 16-10 and finished fifth in the Liberty League with a 10-8 conference record.
