Statesmen, Great Danes to clash in Poole Family Dome

Predicted polar vortex moves game indoors

GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart lacrosse team will host UAlbany on Saturday, March 8. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. inside the Poole Family Dome.
 
Originally schedule to be played outdoors on Boswell Field, the game was moved inside due to the wintery forecast on Saturday which includes snow, 20 mph winds with gusts approaching 40 mph and a RealFeel temperature of just 17 degrees.
 
Due to fire code restrictions, spectators will be limited to only those people listed on the teams' pass lists. The game will be broadcast live on WEOS-FM (89.5/90.3) and webcast on HWS All-Access.

SERIES SNAPSHOT
  • Saturday will be just the second meeting between Hobart and UAlbany. The Great Danes won the inaugural meeting 14-10 in Albany last season.

  • Hobart's faceoff unit has excelled this season. The Statesmen lead the Atlantic 10 and are eighth in the nation in faceoff winning percentage (.613).
  • Graduate student Cole Emmanuel (.632), sophomore Mike Valent (.617) and junior Seamus Schofield (.560) have taken at least 25 faceoffs this season.

  • Hobart's extra-man unit will face it biggest test of the season when it goes against the No. 1 man-down defense in UAblany.
  • The Statesmen have scored on 9-of-22 extra-man opportunities (.409).
  • The Great Danes have killed off all nine of their opponent's opportunities with the man advantage.
 
KEEP AN EYE ON
  • Senior attackman Alex Rosa is fifth on Hobart's Division I era career extra-man goals list with 17. One extra-man goal would move him into a tie for third and two would bump him into a tie for second. Nathan Roost '98 holds the record with 25.
  • With three caused turnovers at Robert Morris last week, senior defenseman Nolan Firth raised his career total to 30. He is 10th on Hobart's career list, three behind No. 9 Michael Christiansen '23.
 
SCOUTING REPORT
  • UAlbany is led by attackman Silas Richmond's 22 points on 11 goals and 11 assists.
  • Faceoff specialist Jezayd Hall has won 53.7% of his restarts (22-41) with nine ground balls and two caused turnovers.
  • Defenseman Max Neeson has a team-high 11 caused turnovers.
  • First-year goalie Brady Smith is 1-2 with an 11.13 GAA and a .534 save percentage.
