The 11th-ranked William Smith lacrosse team will be back in action Friday, May 2, when it welcomes Union to Boswell Field for a Liberty League Tournament semifinal contest. The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.

The Herons are 12-3 overall on the season. William Smith went 9-0 in the Liberty League and captured its 10th Liberty League regular season title. As the No. 1 seed, the Herons earned a first-round bye. William Smith closed out the regular season with a 21-8 win over Vassar on April 26.

The Garnet Chargers are also 12-3 overall. Union went 7-3 in conference play, finishing in a three-way tie for second in the league standings. After tiebreakers, the Garnet Chargers were awarded the fourth seed. On Wednesday, Union defeated RPI 14-7 to advance to the semifinals.

Second-seeded Ithaca will host third-seeded Rochester Institute of Technology in the other semifinal. The winners will meet on Sunday for the conference championship. The game will be played at the highest remaining seed.

- William Smith is led offensively by senior attacker Katherine Murray. She has 62 points on 45 goals and 17 assists.
- Sophomore attackers Mia Falco (26-18-44) and Kira Fulton (25-18-43) are second and third on the team in points, respectively.

- Sydney Widlitz has played the majority of the minutes in goal for the Garnet Chargers. She is 11-3 with a 9.08 GAA and a .446 save percentage.

- Saturday's game will be the 40th meeting between William Smith and Union.
- The Herons lead the all-time series 29-10, including a 17-2 mark in Geneva.
- On March 21, the Herons edged the Garnet Chargers 7-4 in Schenectady. Kate Colvin, Fulton and Quirk all scored twice for the Herons. Smeader made eight saves in the victory.
