Three members of the William Smith tennis team were named to the 2025 Academic All-District® Team selected by College Sports Communicators. Senior Julia Pida earned her second straight selection, while classmate Natalie Haythorn and junior Haley Levine both earned their first Academic All-District® recognition.
The 2025 Academic All-District teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced on June 3.
To be eligible for Academic All-District consideration, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with one full year at their current institution, maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50 and have played in at least 70 percent of the team's contests.
A Fairfield, Connecticut, native, Pida was named to the Academic All-District® Team for the second time after playing a crucial role for the Herons as their captain. She led the team with a 10-10 record in doubles play this season, including a 10-8 mark in dual matches, primarily in the No. 3 position. Pida added a 2-1 record in singles play in her senior season and was 1-0 in the No. 4 spot. Through four seasons, Pida has compiled a 33-40 record in doubles play and a 17-37 record in singles action for the Herons.
The environmental studies major has excelled both on the court and in the classroom in her time at William Smith. Along with her second straight Academic All-District® selection, Pida has been named a three-time ITA Scholar-Athlete, a three-time Liberty League All-Academic selection and a two-time Elizabeth Laird Redway Heia '84 Tennis Coach's Award recipient. Due to her hard work and dedication to the William Smith tennis program, she was named a team captain in her final two seasons with the Herons.
A Weston, Connecticut, native, Haythorn earned her first Academic All-District® selection after leading the Herons as their two-time captain. She played a significant role in both singles and double action, playing in the No. 1 and No. 2 spots for both. In singles play, Haythorn posted a 4-12 record in dual matches, primarily at the No. 1 position, and a 6-9 record in doubles play primarily at the No. 2 spot. Through three seasons, she has compiled a 15-39 record in singles play and a 20-34 record in doubles play for William Smith.
The sociology major has impressed both on the court and in the classroom in her time at William Smith. Along with her first Academic All-District® selection, Haythorn has been named a three-time Liberty League All-Academic selection and an ITA Scholar-Athlete in 2024. This season, she was the recipient of the Mary Hosking Tennis Award, which is voted on by her teammates and given to the team's most valuable player.
A Santa Barbara, California, native, Levine was named to the Academic All-District® Team for the first time in her career after playing a significant role in both singles and doubles play for the Herons. She posted a 6-15 record in singles play, playing primarily in the No. 2 spot, and a 6-10 record in doubles play after going 4-5 in the No. 1 spot. Through three seasons, Levine has compiled a 22-42 record in singles play and a 27-34 record in doubles action for the Herons.
The Spanish and psychology major has been successful on the court and in the classroom in her time at William Smith. She is a two-time Liberty League All-Academic selection and was recognized as an ITA Scholar-Athlete in 2024. Levine was named to the All-Liberty League doubles honorable mention team in 2023. She is a dual-sport athlete for the Herons, also competing for the William Smith swimming and diving team and also spent the summer in Dubrovnik, Croatia, as part of the Colleges' Study Abroad program.
