Vicente Lyon was named to the 2025 D3football.com Preseason All-America second team today. A 2024 consensus All-American, he led the Liberty League and ranked fourth in the nation in punting average last season.

Named to the AP All-America first team and D3football.com All-America third team following his junior season, Lyon averaged 43.6 yards per punt. His 86-yard punt in Hobart's win over Ithaca is the longest in Hobart history and was the longest in NCAA football, any division, last season. Lyon averaged more than 50 yards per punt in three games in 2024, including a Hobart game record 65.0 yards against the Bombers.

Lyon earned a spot on the D3football.com Team of the Week three times last year and was also named the Liberty League Special Teams Performer of the Week three times.

A two-time All-Liberty League pick, Lyon has appeared in 20 games over two seasons for Hobart. He missed his sophomore season due to injury. Lyon has punted 74 times for 3,007 yards, an average of 40.6 yards. Twenty-two of his punts have pinned the opposition inside its own 20 while 16 of his punts have traveled 50 or more yards.

Hobart went 9-2 in 2024, winning the Liberty League with a perfect 6-0 record. The Statesmen earned their 11th NCAA playoff bid, facing No. 6 Susquehanna in the second round. After a slow start, Hobart rallied but ultimately fell to the River Hawks 42-35.

Lyon is the first Statesman to earn a spot on D3football.com's preseason All-America teams since Emmett Forde in 2021. Since naming its first preseason All-America team in 2000, D3football.com has recognized Hobart players 17 times. Lyon is the second Hobart punter to earn the distinction.
