After a championship effort in the St. Lawrence University Fall Classic over the weekend, senior Nick Fischer was named the Liberty League Singles Performer of the Week. It's the first time in his career he has earned this award after securing five Liberty League Doubles Team of the Week awards in his career.
 
Fischer was named the conference's Singles Performer of the Week after going 4-0 at the St. Lawrence Fall Classic, winning the A Flight singles bracket. On the way to the title, Fischer defeated Ithaca's Gijs Fidler 8-3, Rochester's Rahul Ravi 8-5, and Rochester's Kavin Shukla 8-5 to advance to an all Hobart final against teammate Jacob Linares. In the championship match, Fischer prevailed 8-5 to secure the title.
 
The senior from Maryland Heights, Missouri, also impressed in doubles play with partner Tejus Ranadive. Although the duo fell in the opening round 8-7 (7-3) to RIT's Alec Turcotte and Evan Ly, they went on to win twice in the flight A consolation bracket to finish the weekend with a 2-2 record. Fischer and Ranadive defeated Union's Vivaan Gupta and Simon Philip 8-6 and St. Lawrence's Willem Naughton and Charles Schepens 8-4 before retiring in their final matchup against Ithaca.
 
After his four wins in singles play over the weekend, Fischer has compiled a 50-23 record in his career at Hobart. He also adds a 45-26 record in doubles play over the past three seasons with the Statesmen. Fischer and Hobart will be back in action Friday, Oct. 3, when it travels to Saratoga Springs, New York, for the ITA Northeast Regional Championships.
