The Hobart and William Smith alpine skiing teams are set to compete at Bristol Mountain this weekend for the third week of USCSA Mideast Conference action. The Statesmen and Herons will race the giant slalom on Saturday, Jan. 31 and slalom races will take place on Sunday, Feb. 1. First runs will begin at 9 a.m. on both days.
Hobart sits in first place in the team standings with four points, followed by Cornell (5 points) and Colgate (10). The Statesmen are coming off a second-place finish in slalom at Labrador Mountain with a combined team time of 4:27.03.
Sophomore
Will Patton leads the Statesmen with two first place finishes. At West Mountain, Patton had a combined time of 2:01.53 in giant slalom and 1:38.21 in his slalom race. First-year
Zachary Wargo also contributes two top 10 finishes, placing third in slalom at Labrador Mountain (1:25.71) and sixth in slalom at West Mountain (1:42.97).
William Smith currently sits in second place with six points. The Herons trail Colgate by three points and rounding out the top three is Hamilton with nine points. William Smith is coming off a second-place finish in the slalom race at Labrador Mountain with a combined team time of 4:48.10.
First-year
Aspen McAuley leads the Herons having won her first three collegiate races. Most recently, McAuley had a combined time of 1:29.62 to win the slalom race at Labrador Mountain. Senior
Kate Broderick has two top 10 finishes, placing eighth in slalom at Labrador Mountain (1:37.58) and sixth in slalom at West Mountain (1:55.17).
