Hobart opens 2026 at No. 1

Hobart hockey first-year forward Adam Ondris was named the SUNYAC Men's Hockey Rookie of the Week by the conference office today. In addition, the Statesmen were ranked first in the USCHO.com poll, receiving all 20 first place votes.
 
Hobart has been ranked No. 1 by USCHO.com for 38 consecutive polls and has been the unanimous No. 1 team in the country in four straight polls. The last time another team was ranked No. 1 was 774 days ago.
 
Ondris earned the rookie of the week award after leading Hobart to a victory over Middlebury on Saturday. He had three points on two goals and an assist against Panthers. Ondris set up Josh Doolan's goal that gave Hobart a 3-0 lead heading into the second period. He scored two of Hobart's next three goals as the Statesmen pulled away for a 7-0 victory. Ondris has played in nine games this season. He has five points on three goals and two assists.
 
With the win over the Panthers, Hobart improved to 12-0-0 on the season. The Statesmen enter the week first in the nation in winning percentage (1.000), scoring offense (5.33), scoring margin (+4.00), scoring defense (1.33) and are second in the nation in power-play percentage (.333).
 
The Statesmen, who are 5-0-0 in the SUNYAC, return to conference play this weekend, Jan. 9-10, when they welcomee Cortland (7-5-1, 4-1-1) and Morrisville (2-9-2, 1-3-2) to The Cooler. Hobart will take on the Red Dragons on Friday at 7 p.m. and the Mustangs on Saturday at 4 p.m.
