Hobart hosts Vassar, Bard to close out regular season

Statesmen will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday

GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart basketball team will wrap up the regular season with a pair of home games on Feb. 20 and Feb. 21. The Statesmen will take on Vassar Friday night at 7:30 p.m. followed by a showdown with Bard at 4 p.m. Saturday.
 
Both games will be webcast on HWS All-Access with Live Stats available on HWSAthletics.com.
 
FOODIE FRIDAY
On Friday, the food truck Wraps on Wheels will be serving fans. Parked outside Bristol Gym from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
 
SENIOR SATURDAY
The Statesmen will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday, recognizing the accomplishments of the Class of 2026 before the start of the game. Together, Gabriel Bergeron, Niko Lutz, Jaymon Pysnack and Axel Traina have compiled a four-year record of 67-37, including a Liberty League Championship and NCAA tournament appearance in 2023-24.
 
PLAYOFF PICTURE
Hobart is 12-11 overall, including a 6-10 mark in the Liberty League. The Statesmen need to win out and get some help to climb into a playoff position. The top six teams make the league championship tournament. Hobart is two games behind Ithaca (9-14, 8-8) and Skidmore (12-11, 8-8), which are tied for the final two spots in the tournament.
 
HOBART vs. VASSAR
  • When the Statesmen visited the Brewers back in December, junior Alex Moesch led four Statesmen in double digits with 16 points, but Vassar's Shea Fitzgerald's game-high 21 points led the home team to an 85-74 win.
  • Hobart leads the all-time series with Vassar 43-10, including a 25-2 record in Bristol Gym. The Statesmen seniors are 6-2 against the Brewers in their careers.
  • Vassar is 17-6 overall, 13-3 in conference play. The Brewers are tied for second in the league standings a game out of first.
 
HOBART vs. BARD
  • The Statesmen earned a 77-68 win at Bard to open conference play. Junior Dorian Paki posted a game-high 15 points to pace Hobart, while Angelos Bratakos and Seth Dyer both posted 11 points to lead the Raptors.
  • The Statesmen are 25-5 all-time against Bard, but the Raptors have won three of the past four meetings. Hobart's seniors are 4-3 against Bard in their careers.
  • The Raptors are 1-22 this season, 0-16 in league play.
