Hobart first-year defenseman
Colman Craft was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week by the conference office. He led the Statesmen to a 12-7 win over Le Moyne last week.
Â
Craft led a Hobart defense that limited Le Moyne to just seven goals and only one in the second half. He finished the game with four caused turnovers and matched his season high with three ground balls, while also adding his first career assist. Early in the third quarter, he caused a turnover, scooped up the ground ball and raced up field, assisting on the first goal of the half, kick-starting a Statesmen rally that saw them wipe out a four-goal halftime deficit to win.
Â
In just seven games, Craft has registered 23 caused turnovers, which is tied for third on the program's single season list and just two away from the record. He leads the nation in caused turnovers per game at 3.29.
Â
Hobart (2-5, 0-0) will begin A10 play this week when the Statesmen welcome Saint Joseph's (4-2, 1-0) to Boswell Field at Urick Stadium. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, March 21.
