3/23/2026 1:55:00 PM

For the fourth time this season, Hobart volleyball first-year Harry Fromberg was selected the United Volleyball Conference's Rookie of the Week. It is his first time winning the award alone after earning three co-rookie of the week awards earlier this season.

The Statesmen, who were receiving votes in last week's AVCA national poll, went 2-2 over spring break. Hobart fell 3-0 to No. 16 MIT and No. 15 Wentworth before defeating Wheaton (Mass.) 3-0 and No. 12 Lasell in a five-set thriller at the Wheaton tri-match on Saturday.

Fromberg opened the week with a three-kill (.000) and two-block performance against the Engineers on Wednesday. He then tallied nine kills (.400), three digs, two blocks and one assist in the sweep of the Lyons on Saturday.

In Saturday's upset of No. 12 Lasell, Fromberg had a career day, putting down a career-high 18 kills, hitting .394 in the win. He added three blocks, two digs and one service ace as well in the five-set thriller. In three matches last week, Fromberg averaged 3.00 kills per set, 0.10 service aces per set, 0.50 digs per set, 0.70 blocks per set and 3.50 points per set.

The Bridgewater, New Jersey, native has had a standout start to his rookie season for Hobart. Through 21 matches, Fromberg averages 2.34 kills per set, 0.62 digs per set, 0.46 blocks per set and 2.68 points per set. He has tallied double-digit kills in nine matches and has tallied three or more blocks five times this season.

Hobart will be back in action March 27-28 when it hosts two crucial UVC matches to close out the conference regular season. The Statesmen will take on No. 8 New Paltz (19-5, 4-0 UVC) on Friday at 7 p.m. in Bristol Gymnasium and will close out the weekend with action against No. 7 NYU (15-4, 2-1 UVC) on Saturday at 2 p.m.
