Statesmen hit the road to face #2 Spiders

The Hobart lacrosse team continues Atlantic 10 Conference play Saturday, March 28, when the Statesmen visit No. 2 Richmond. The opening faceoff at Robins Stadium is scheduled for 2 p.m.
 
The game will be broadcast live on WHWS-FM (105.7). It will be webcast on ESPN+ with live stats on richmondspiders.com.
 
The Spiders will be the highest ranked opponent the Statesmen have faced since hosting No. 2 Syracuse on April 5, 2017. It will be the highest ranked opponent Hobart has traveled to since visiting No. 2 Syracuse on March 24, 2009.
 
ABOUT THE STATESMEN
  • Hobart is looking to bounce back from a loss in its A10 opener against No. 18 Saint Joseph's last week.
  • The Statesmen are 2-6 overall, 0-1 in conference play.
  • First-year defenseman Colman Craft leads the nation in caused turnovers per game (3.00). He has 24 on the year, one shy of Reid Rosello's Hobart season record set in 2013.

  • Richmond is 8-0 overall and 2-0 in the A10 following a 21-7 win over UMass last Saturday.
  • Senior attackman Aidan O'Neil leads the offense with 40 points on 18 goals and 22 assists. He is fourth in Division I in assists per game (2.75) and seventh in points per game (5.00).
  • Junior attackman Lucas Littlejohn is one of two Spiders with more than 20 goals this season, sporting a team-leading 22. He's 22nd in the nation in goals per game (2.75).
  • First-year faceoff specialist Vincent Gaylord has won 60.2% of his faceoffs and has corralled a team-high 45 ground balls. He's 14th in the country in faceoff percentage and ground balls per game (6.43).
  • Senior defenseman Hunter Smith paces UR with 21 caused turnovers.
  • Senior goalie Connor Knight has started all eight games, posting a 7.52 GAA and a .586 save percentage with an 8-0 record.
 
SERIES HISTORY
  • Saturday will be the fourth meeting between Hobart and Richmond since the series began in 2023.
  • The Spiders have won the previous three meetings, including a 15-7 win in Geneva last year.
