O’Neil snags 2nd Liberty League Rookie of the Week award

2 other Statesmen named to weekly honor roll

For the second time this season, first-year Jack O'Neil has been named the Liberty League Baseball Rookie of the Week by the conference office. In three games last week, he hit .636 with a .909 slugging percentage and drove in a team-high eight runs.
 
Teammates, junior Connor O'Neil and first-year Joe Dunham were recognized by the league with a spot on the weekly honor roll. The trio led the Statesmen to a 3-1 record last week, including a three-game series sweep of Liberty League West rival Rochester.
 
Jack O'Neil went 7-for-11, smashing his first collegiate home run, and scored four times. In a 9-4 non-conference loss to Ithaca on Wednesday, he was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a walk. In Sunday's 13-6 win over Rochester, Jack was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored. He wrapped up the week with a 4-for-4 effort at the dish, driving in four, scoring three times, stealing two bases and drawing a walk. Jack's three-run homer in the sixth gave Hobart the lead for good.
 
In 20 games this season, Jack is batting .382 with a .488 on-base percentage and a .529 slugging percentage. He has five doubles, a triple and a home run among his 26 hits. Jack also has a team-leading 12 stolen bases and shares the team lead with 13 walks.
 
In four games last week, Connor O'Neil had a slash line of .500/.579/1.063. He was 8-for-16 with four doubles, a triple and a home run. Connor also drew three walks and stole four bases. Against the Bombers, he was 2-for-5 with a triple, a stolen base and two runs scored. In Sunday's doubleheader sweep of the Yellowjackets, Connor had four doubles in eight at-bats. He also drove in four runs and scored three times. Connor helped the Statesmen complete the series sweep of the Yellowjackets, going 2-for-4 with a solo home run, two stolen bases and two runs scored last night.
 
Connor O'Neil has played in 14 games this season, starting 13. He's batting .353 with a .608 slugging percentage. He sports a team-high six doubles, two triples and a home run. Connor has driven in 12 runs and scored 14 times.
 
Dunham earned the win in the series finale at Rochester, throwing four scoreless innings. He entered the game in the fifth with the Statesmen trailing by one. Dunham retired the first 11 batters he faced before allowing a solitary hit. He rebounded to strike out the next batter, ending his night with five strikeouts.
 
Dunham has appeared in seven games this season, posting a 3-0 record with 20 strikeouts against just three walks. He has yet to allow a run and opponents are batting a mere .190 against him.
 
Hobart has won 11 of its last 12 games to improve to 17-6 overall. The Statesmen are 5-0 in the Liberty League. Hobart is scheduled to play a three-game series at Clarkson (10-8, 2-4) beginning with a single game Friday, April 3. The first pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
