After guiding the Hobart volleyball team to the conference semifinals, junior Noah DeLong was named to the United Volleyball Conference's All-Tournament team, the conference office announced today.
The fourth-seeded Statesmen opened the conference tournament against fifth-seeded Vassar on Friday, defeating the Brewers in four sets to advance to the UVC semifinals for the first time in program history. The next day, Hobart fell to top-seeded New Paltz 3-1, ending its season with a 14-14 overall record.
Through two matches, DeLong combined for 20 kills (.200), 11 digs, seven assists, five blocks and four service aces. He averaged 2.50 kills per set, 0.88 assists per set, 0.50 aces per set, 1.38 digs per set and 3.38 points per set. DeLong opened the conference championships with an 11-kill (.200), six-assist, five-dig, three-block and one service ace performance against Vassar. DeLong's ace clinched the match for the Statesmen. He then added nine kills (.200), six digs, three service aces, two blocks and one assist in the season-ending loss to the Hawks.
The right side from Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, concluded his junior season with a career-high 215 kills, hitting .278. He added 52 assists, 21 service aces, 70 digs, 46 blocks and 262.5 points. DeLong averaged 2.36 kills per set, 0.57 assists per set, 0.23 service aces per set, 0.77 digs per set, 0.51 blocks per set and 2.88 points per set. He was named to the UVC All-Conference First Team after scoring double-digit kills in 11 matches this season.
