TEMPE, Ariz.—The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced earlier today that senior
Haley Levine of the William Smith tennis team has been selected as one of three finalists for the prestigious ITA Ann Lebedeff Leadership Award, endowed by tennis legend Billie Jean King. The honor is one of the highest distinctions in all of college tennis, spanning all three NCAA divisions.
The ITA Ann Lebedeff Leadership Award celebrates a recent college graduate who exemplifies excellence on and off the court, outstanding leadership in their athletics program and campus community, a demonstrated commitment to social justice and equality, and the grit and perseverance required to pursue long-term goals. The award honors exceptional character, leadership, and academic achievement. The recipient receives a post-graduate scholarship, is honored at the ITA Awards Ceremony in New York City, and the ITA donates $1,000 to the winner's collegiate tennis program.
A standout dual-sport athlete for the Herons, Levine has competed for both the Heron tennis team and the swimming and diving program throughout her four years. On the court, she has been a consistent, resilient competitor, posting a 33–55 singles record and a 35–49 doubles record.
Beyond her athletic achievements, Levine has been recognized for her teamwork, leadership, and ability to elevate those around her; qualities central to the award's purpose.
"I'm so proud of Haley for being named a finalist for this prestigious honor," said Head Coach
Emme Levenson. "She represents our tennis program and the HWS campus community with integrity, determination and genuine care for others. As a dual sport athlete, who is deeply involved across campus, she has made a lasting impact through her leadership and commitment to those around her. Haley truly embodies the spirit of the award, and I'm confident her impact will continue to be felt well beyond her time here."
Levine pairs her athletic commitment with a strong academic record. A double major in Spanish and psychology, she is a two-time ITA Scholar-Athlete and a two-time Liberty League All-Academic selection. Her academic experience has also been shaped by study-abroad programs in Dubrovnik, Croatia, and Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she expanded her global and cultural understanding.
Following graduation, she will further her dedication to service and community care as she enrolls in the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing.
