The schedule for the Liberty League Baseball Tournament, which will be hosted by RIT, was also revealed today. The Statesmen (27-11) will face Rensselaer (23-14) in their tournament opener at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 7. The host Tigers (21-12) will take on St. Lawrence (20-14) at 1 p.m.
The schedule continues with three games on Friday. At 10 a.m., Thursday's losing teams will square off in the first elimination game. At 1 p.m., Thursday's winning teams will battle. The final game of the day, another elimination game, is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. between the winning team of Friday's first game and the losing team of the second game.
Championship Saturday begins at noon and, if necessary, will be followed by the final game. The Liberty League Champion will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
Hobart advanced to the Liberty League Tournament for the first time by winning its Liberty League Crossover Series with Bard last week. The Statesmen dominated Game 1, prevailing 15-1, and took Game 2 5-1.
O'Neil hit .444 against the Raptors. In Game 1, he went 2-for-4 with a double and a walk and scored three times. O'Neil followed that up with a 2-for-5 effort at the plate in Game 2, stealing two bases. He has an active 13-game hitting streak.
Nash threw a complete game, two-hitter to lead Hobart to victory in Game 1. He struck out seven batters, one off his season-high, without issuing a walk. Nash retired the first 13 batters he faced and allowed just a single run in the sixth inning. The win was his sixth of the season, one off the Hobart single-season record.
Farnen hit .667 in Hobart's Liberty League Crossover Series against Bard. In Game 1's 15-1 Hobart win, he was 3-for-3 with five RBIs and three runs scored. He had an RBI walk in the first inning, an RBI triple in the second, an RBI single in the third and a two-RBI single in the fifth. It was Farnen's second three-hit game of the season. In Game 2's 5-1 Hobart win, he was 1-for-3 with an RBI. He also reached base on a walk and a hit-by-pitch. Farnen has reached base safely in 23 straight games.
