For the third time this season, William Smith's varsity eight was named the Liberty League Boat of the Week by the conference office. This is the fifth boat of the week award for the Herons this spring.

Meghan Bartholomay won a gold medal at the Liberty League Championships on Saturday. The victory helped the Herons capture their first league championship since 2016.

In their morning heat, Whitney, Darius, Abdalla, Schwartz, Gialanella, Ryan, Grim, Webe and Bartholomay traversed the 2,000-meter Fish Creek course in a time of 7:10.840, 19.504 seconds ahead of Skidmore. The finish secured William Smith a spot in the grand final. Two hours later, the Herons were back on the water competing for the league title. They powered down the course to a time of 6:52.172. Skidmore finished second, nine seconds back.

The Herons, who are ranked eighth in the CRCA Poll, also won gold medals in the second and third varsity eight races.

William Smith will be back on the water on Sunday, May 10, when it heads to Worcester, Massachusetts, for the National Invitational Rowing Championships.
