The Hobart baseball team will make its Liberty League Tournament debut against Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, May 7. The four-team, double elimination tournament will be hosted by Rochester Institute of Technology at the RIT Baseball Complex.
 
All tournament games will be livestreamed on ritathletics.com/watch. Fans can also track the action with live stats.
 
RIT will face St. Lawrence in the tournament's opening game at 12:30 p.m.
 
SCOUTING HOBART

• The Statesmen enter their first Liberty League Tournament with a 27-11 overall record, tied for the most wins in a season in program history (1994, 27-10).
• Hobart was 11-5 in conference play and is coming off a sweep of Bard in the Liberty League Crossover Series in which they outscored the Raptors 20-2.
• The Statesmen finished second in the Liberty League West with a 9-5 record.
• At the plate, Hobart is batting .309 with a league-leading 321 runs scored.
• On the hill, the Statesmen have a league-best 4.53 ERA with 246 strikeouts in 302.0 innings.
• In the field, the Hobart has committed a league-low 32 errors for a .975 fielding percentage, which is sixth in the nation.

 
SCOUTING RPI

• The Engineers open tournament play with a 23-14 record.
• Rensselaer went 12-5 in Liberty League play, including a sweep of Ithaca in the Liberty League Crossover series.
• RPI finished atop the Liberty League East with a 10-2 record.
• The Engineers are batting .285 with 280 runs scored.
• Rensselaer's pitching staff has a 4.66 ERA with a league-leading 277 strikeouts in 332.1 innings.
• RPI is third in the league in fielding percentage at .966.

 
ON THE RUN

• The Statesmen and Engineers are tied for the Liberty League lead with 111 stolen bases apiece. Hobart has a narrow edge in success rate, having been caught stealing one fewer time (.867 vs. .860).
• Five-time Liberty League Rookie of the Week, Hobart shortstop Jack O'Neil leads the league with 25 thefts this season.
• RPI junior outfielder Walker Abdallah (21) and first-year outfielder Charlie Morse (20) are third and fourth in the league, respectively.
• Hobart's speed has also resulted in a league-high 19 triples, which rank sixth in the nation.

 
ACES

• Hobart's Teck Nash is 6-1 with a 3.22 ERA in 67.0 innings. He is 10th in the nation in walks allowed per nine innings (1.08) and 27th in strikeout-to-walk (5.50).
• Nash needs one win and 4.0 innings to tie the Hobart season records. With 212 career innings, he's also one inning shy of breaking that Hobart mark.
• Rensselaer has two-starters that have both thrown more than 50 innings this season, Garrett Gates (5-1, 5.12 ERA, 58.0 IP) and Liam Riordan (5-3, 3.96, 52.1). Riordan is fourth in the league with 52 strikeouts.

 
AGAINST THE FIELD

• Hobart is 0-4 against RPI since returning to varsity status in 2023. All four games were played in Troy, New York.
• The Statesmen are 2-9 against the host Tigers since 2023. RIT won both regular season meetings on its home field this year. Hobart's two wins came at McDonough Park last season.
• Hobart is 8-4 against St. Lawrence. The Statesmen swept the three-game series with the Saints this season.
