Three members of the Hobart baseball team were named to the 2026 Academic All-District Division III Baseball Team, as selected by College Sports Communicators. Senior second baseman Christian Petry, senior designated hitter Will Jones and senior pitcher Aaron Forgues were lauded for their combination of academic and athletic excellence.

To be nominated for the award, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically during the 2026 season, possess a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50 and either compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played or start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games. For pitchers, a student-athlete must have made at least 17 appearances or pitched 35 innings.

A member of Hobart's Druid honor society, Petry graduated in May with a bachelor's degree in economics. He was named to the Liberty League All-Academic Team three times and is a two-time Academic All-District pick.

On the diamond, Petry started all 145 games he played over the past four seasons, hitting .286 with 66 RBIs and 133 runs scored. He collected 144 career hits, including 19 doubles and six triples. Petry drew 88 walks and was hit by a pitch 76 times on his way to a .458 on-base percentage. Hobart's leadoff hitter, he holds the program records for at-bats (504), hit-by-pitch, and assists (372).

A two-time All-Liberty League selection, Petry earned second team honors this year after receiving honorable mention as a sophomore. A starter in all 46 games he played this season, he hit .292 with 29 RBIs, 49 runs, and 15 stolen bases. Petry collected a season-high three hits in a game six times, including a 3-for-3 effort with four RBIs against St. Lawrence.

A member of Pi Sigma Alpha, the national political science honor society, Jones graduated with a bachelor's degree in political science. He is a three-time All-Liberty League Academic Team member.

A .286 career hitter, Jones amassed 111 hits, including 17 doubles, four triples and a home run as well as 38 RBIs and 23 runs scored. This season, he hit .275 with 22 RBIs and 23 runs scored. Jones went 4-for-4, including a solo home run at Rochester.

Forgues graduated with a bachelor's degree in writing and rhetoric. He is a three-time All-Liberty League Academic Team member.

Forgues appeared in 32 games over three seasons, missing his junior year due to injury, compiling a 3-6 record with 103 strikeouts and a 5.15 ERA in 99 2/3 innings. He went 1-4 this season with a career-high 36 strikeouts in 41 1/3 innings. Forgues struck out a season-high six batters in 4 2/3 innings against Ithaca. He gave the Statesmen six scoreless innings in his final appearance, an extra-innings loss to No. 8 Salisbury in the NCAA Regionals.

Hobart finished the 2026 season with a 32-15 record, eclipsing nearly three dozen team and individual season records. The Statesmen topped the program marks for wins in a season, runs, hits, and doubles among many others. Hobart made just the second NCAA tournament appearance in program history and its first since 1992. The Statesmen went 2-2 at the Salisbury Regional, defeating Mount Union twice for the program's first wins over a nationally ranked opponent.
