EAST MEADOW, N.Y.—The Hobart golf team produced two top-10 finishers as it secured fifth place out of 13 teams at the fifth annual George Cangero Invitational, hosted by Farmingdale State this weekend. The Statesmen finished +22 as a team before Day 2 was cancelled due to weather, landing them top five in the team standings.

Sophomore Aman Dhiman led Hobart at the Eisenhower Park Golf Course, finishing one over par on the 72-par course. Dhiman's +1 score was tied for fourth overall in the 80-golfer field, just two strokes behind first place.

Junior Robby Kurzer added a sixth-place finish after carding a 74 through 18 holes. Kurzer's score landed him in a six-way tie for sixth at +2. It was his best finish of the season.

Sophomore Ben Bush, junior Andrew Murray and senior Gavin Poyer rounded out the Statesmen team this weekend. Bush finished +9 on Saturday, landing in a tie for 38th, while Murray finished one stroke behind and in a tie for 45th. In his season debut, Poyer shot an 83, finishing tied for 49th through one round.

North Carolina Wesleyan won the team title, finishing 11 over par as a team, while Farmingdale State followed in second at +12. Stevens Institute rounded out the top three with a team score of +18. There was a three-way tie for the invitational's individual medalist this weekend. Farmingdale State's Jacob Anderson, NC Wesleyan's Charlie Wiltshire and Adelphi's Zeus Sara tied for first after finishing one under par on Saturday.

Hobart will be back in action Sept. 27-28 when it travels to Williamsport, Pennsylvania, for the Northeast Elite Invitational. Action will begin at 10 a.m. at Williamsport Country Club.
