9/15/2026 3:47:00 PM

The Hobart soccer team debuted at No. 14 in the first United Soccer Coaches Poll of the regular season. The Statesmen return to the poll after spending the majority of the 2025 season ranked.

Hobart is 5-0-0 to start the season, its best start to a year since 2011. The Statemen are coming off a hard-fought 1-0 win over Rochester on Saturday. Junior Brady Leitner scored in the ninth minute, and the Hobart defense held on down the stretch for the victory. Junior Jake Hans played all 90 minutes in goal and made two saves. Both Leitner and Hans earned a spot on the Liberty League weekly honor roll.

Hobart enters the week second in the Liberty League in goals (11), assists (13) and points (35).  The Statesmen offense is led by junior Griffin Coutts. He has nine points on a goal and seven assists. Coutts has tallied at least one assist in every game this season and is first in the nation in assists and assists per game (1.40). Sophomore Tommy Broderick has a team-high three goals.  Hans has the edge in goalie minutes played. He is 4-0-0 with a 0.51 GAA and an .875 save percentage.

Hobart begins a three-game road trip this afternoon at Brockport. The game is set to begin at 4 p.m. The Golden Eagles are 1-2-1 on the season. The Statesmen will then open league play on Saturday, Sept. 19, in the North Country. Hobart will face 24th-ranked St. Lawrence at 3 p.m. The Saints (3-0-1) will play at seventh-ranked Cortland on Wednesday.
