The William Smith golf team will tee off a new season on Thursday, Sept. 24 when they compete in the Keuka Fall Invitational at Lakeside Country Club in Penn Yan, New York. Tee times begin at 10 a.m.
 
Head Coach Seraphine Hamilton begins her second season with the team, welcoming back four players from the 2025-26 squad and adding a member of the Class of 2030.
 
Following the graduation of team scoring leader Caroline Gannon, the Herons will turn to Maggie McCarthy to take up the mantle of leadership. She was second on the team in scoring average last season, carding three of the team's top 10 rounds. McCarthy posted her best round of the season in the spring's Nazareth Invitational, finishing second overall.
 
Veteran players Samantha Murray, Tara Valas and Sophia Pomposello and first-year Abby Reiners will round out the squad as the Herons look to improve on their seventh-place finish in the 2026 Liberty League Championship Tournament.
 
The 36-hole 2027 Liberty League Championship Tournament is tentatively scheduled for May 1 and May 2 at Teugega Country Club in Rome, New York.
