MIDDLETOWN, Conn.—The William Smith College squash team split its last two matches of the Wesleyan Round Robin today. The Herons edged Columbia 5-4, but fell to Mt. Holyoke 8-1. William Smith's record now stands at 4-3 overall.
Senior
Eliza Braendel (The Hill School/Chester Hills, Pa.) led the Herons with two victories at No. 9. She defeated her opponents from Columbia and Mt. Holyoke 3-2 and 3-0, respectively.
Also leading William Smith past the Lions was junior
Katie Mullen (Sacred Heart/Rye, N.Y.), who won 3-0 at No. 4. Sophomore
Alexa Comstock (Tabor Academy/Essex, Conn.) defeated her opponent 3-1 at No. 5, while senior
Megan Peterson (Kent School/Stamford, Conn.) won at No. 6, 3-0. Rounding out the victory was junior
Emily Hazenberg (Pomfret/New York, N.Y.) with a 3-1 win at No. 8.
The Herons will be back in action after the holiday break, when they compete in the Mt. Holyoke/Smith Tournament Jan. 24-25.
