Box Score ITHACA, N.Y.—The 11th-ranked William Smith College lacrosse team fell to Ithaca College 16-8 this afternoon in non-league action. The Herons drop to 12-2 overall, while the Bombers improve to 6-3 on the season.
Senior
Rachel Stahl (C.W. Baker/Baldwinsville, N.Y.) led William Smith with two goals and an assist, while senior
Sarah Davidson (South Burlington/South Burlington, Vt.), sophomore
Molly Fitzgerald (Gould Academy/Sudbury, Mass.) and junior
Michaela Parnell (Guilford/Guilford, Conn.) each added a goal and an assist.
Kim Medla led the Bombers with seven goals, while Meagan Howell notched four goals and two assists.
Ithaca jumped out to a 4-0 lead, before Fitzgerald scored on a free position shot with 17 minutes, 5 seconds left in the first half to cut the Bombers’ lead to 4-1.
Medla netted her third goal of the day with 14:51 remaining to put Ithaca back up by four. Parnell answered 44 seconds later, but the hosts went on to score twice more before the end of the half, and took a 7-3 lead into the break.
Sophomore Heron
Brittany Callaghan (St. Luke’s School/Armonk, N.Y.) opened the scoring in the second stanza just 1:14 into the period. The teams traded goals for the majority of the half. William Smith kept the Bombers’ lead within reach, but could not get closer than three.
The Herons’ deficit was four, 12-8, at the 10:33 mark, when the Bombers started to pull away. Ithaca scored the final four goals of the game to insure the win.

Morgan Baird (Pingree School/Gloucester, Mass.) picked up three saves. Emily Brooks recorded 14 stops in goal for Ithaca.
The Herons will be back in action April 25, when they host No. 8 Union for a Liberty League contest at 4 p.m.
