HILTON HEAD, S.C.—The Hobart College tennis team defeated St. Michael's College 7-2 this afternoon in the Statesmen's first match of the spring season. Hobart improves to 2-3 overall, while the Purple Knights slip to 2-1 on the year.
Sophomore
Matt Chin (Hingham/Hingham, Mass.) and first-year
Kevin Bates (Groton-Dunstable/Groton, Mass.) teamed up for the win at No. 2 doubles, while senior
Adam Cohn (Hawken School/Highland Heights, Ohio) and first-year
Mike Kofman (Newton South/Newton, Mass.) earned the victory at No. 3 doubles.
In singles action, sophomore
Harry King (Concord & Carlisle/Concord, Mass.) won at No. 2, Bates took the No. 3 match, Cohn won at No. 4, Kofman won at No. 5, and first-year
Walter Green (Ridgewood/Ridgewood, N.J.) earned the victory at No. 6.
The Statesmen will be back in action in Hilton Head tomorrow, March 16, when they take on Wooster at 11:30 a.m.
