The Hobart College tennis team fell to the Rochester Institute of Technology 6-3 tonight at the HWS Tennis Center. The Statesmen slip to 2-10 on the year, while the Tigers improve to 2-3.
Sophomore
Matt Chin (Hingham/Hingham, Mass.) and first-year
Matt Hursh (Weston/Weston, Conn.) teamed up for Hobart's lone doubles victory. They edged RIT's John Albers and Josh Goldstein 9-8 at No. 3. First-year Statesmen
Kevin Bates (Groton-Dunstable/Groton, Mass.) and
Mike Kofman (Newton South/Newton, Mass.) played a hard-fought match at second doubles, but fell to John Traver and Adam Wolf 9-8.
In singles action, Hobart first-year
Kevin Kent (Trinity-Pawling/New York, N.Y.) defeated Jose Guzman 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1, while classmate
Walter Green (Ridgewood/Ridgewood, N.J.) downed Goldstein at No. 6, 4-6, 6-1, 7-5.
The Statesmen will be back in action on April 5, when they travel to Skidmore to take on the Thoroughbreds at 1 p.m.
