Lucy Johnson netted four goals apiece to lead the 16th-ranked William Smith lacrosse team to a 16-6 Liberty League win over St. Lawrence today. The Herons never trailed in the contest and broke the game open with eight unanswered goals in the second half.

Sarah Goodkind notched hat tricks for William Smith, while junior
Brittany Callaghan added a goal and an assist.
Amanda Forbes accounted for half of the Saints goals.
Parnell scored twice followed by a Goodkind tally to put the Herons up 3-0 with 13:34 remaining in the first half. Forbes got the home team on the board just over a minute later, but Goodkind got the goal back to send William Smith into halftime with a 4-1 lead. All five first half goals were scored on free-position shots.
In the second half, the Herons scored four of the first five goals to stretch their lead to 8-2 with 21:34 remaining. St. Lawrence countered with back-to-back goals two minutes apart to trim its deficit to four with 18:19 to go. The mini-run prompt William Smith Head Coach

Whatever she said worked. Johnson scored 28 seconds later sparking an 8-0 Heron run that bloated the team's lead to a dozen with just over four minutes remaining.
Forbes scored twice in the final minute to close out the scoring.
Senior goalie
Becky Josefiak earned the win with 13 saves, while Anna Marchand recorded 14 stops for St. Lawrence (4-3, 1-1).
The win was Genovese's 357th of her career, more than any other collegiate lacrosse coach. She'll go for No. 358 at 2 p.m. on Sat., April 4, when the Herons square off with Clarkson.
